FIELD REFERENCE
Full criteria & treatment guidance
Indications
- Historical OCEMS vaccination-program reference only. The old procedures do not establish current vaccine eligibility, product selection or authorization; verify current public-health direction and program approval before use.
Contraindications & local exclusions
- A current product-specific contraindication list is not established by this historical reference. Verify the exact vaccine, age formulation and current official prescribing information/CDC screening guidance. Do not reuse older egg-allergy or acute-illness rules as current universal vaccine contraindications.
Precautions
- COVID-19 emergency-program conditions and vaccine formulations have changed. This page does not claim an active program, current schedule or pediatric administration authority.
- These are selected safety checks, not a complete prescribing monograph. Product labeling and OCEMS authorization answer different questions; confirm the actual product, patient population and applicable order.
Scope & authority
- Historical/conditional scope: current program authorization has not been established by this reference.
- No current vaccine dose or schedule is asserted here.
Adult / adolescent
- The linked 2020 procedure describes trained OCEMS-accredited paramedics administering IM influenza/COVID-19 vaccine under an approved public-health program during the COVID-19 Disaster Declaration.
- It is conditional program guidance, not evidence that this historical optional scope remains active today. Verify current OCEMS/public-health authorization and the specific product guidance before planning administration.
Pediatric
- PR-150.10 described a public program for age 14 and older. It does not establish a current vaccine dose, schedule, or authorization for younger children.
- Use current program authorization and age/product-specific clinical guidance; do not derive a pediatric vaccine regimen from this historical document.
Pediatric dosing availability
- The historical program document does not establish a current pediatric vaccine dose or active program authorization.
| Weight | OCEMS pediatric dose |
|---|---|
| Any weight | No general OCEMS pediatric dose is listed; follow the applicable order or medical direction. |
Use, monitoring & documentation
- Complete the required training, consent and screening, aseptic IM technique, reaction observation, and emergency-readiness steps. Current product requirements govern formulation, eligibility, and dosage.
- Program documentation includes administration date, patient, site, product/manufacturer, lot number, consent, and vaccine-information material, plus appropriate adverse-event reporting.
UNDERSTAND THE CARE
Why the historical influenza reference is not a current vaccination order
The archived program document describes a particular authorization context. It does not establish today’s influenza product, eligible ages, formulation or schedule. Treat the historical material as background and establish current program authority and current product guidance before a clinical use is considered.
Applying the guidance
A complete current check would need the selected vaccine, age-specific formulation, official prescribing information, current screening guidance and agency authorization. Those are not supplied by extrapolating the older document. Keep revision dates distinct from verification dates and do not reuse historical exclusions as universal current rules.

Separate historical procedure from a current vaccine program
This page is useful as a record of how a past OCEMS program was organized. It is not a ready-to-use seasonal vaccine checklist. A complete current program would need both a current authorization decision and a named current vaccine product. Neither can be inferred from the presence of an older procedure in a document library.
Before adapting the historical workflow, obtain the current program’s approved staff roles, training, eligibility and screening instructions, product and storage requirements, documentation process, and response plan for an adverse event. Then compare those instructions with the historical document, explicitly identifying what has been replaced. Keep the older date attached to the historical material.
For example, an old class certificate and a stocked vaccine do not together demonstrate current administration authority. No current vaccine dose, age cutoff, schedule or active OCEMS program is asserted here. Current OCEMS/public-health direction and the exact product’s official information remain necessary to close those gaps.
